Don’t be a stranger, because there’s an open door,
count your blessings, you’ll find what you look for.
Remember to remind yourself of who you really are,
because if you’re nothing else, you will always be ours.

May your dreams be rested, your heart be at ease,
may you always know how to find what you need.
May you always know you’ve got somewhere to go,
may you always remember you’ve got a place to call home.

You may not have a house, but you can share ours,
you’ll find hot food, a bed and a shower.
You’ll sit at a table and be told you’re not alone.
You’ll be told where you are, with family, at home.

I’m not a youth leader, a parent, a pastor, or even an adult, but I want to challenge you. Think about who speaks into you. Pray on it, even. More people are sowing into your growth than you even realize. Think of who your spiritual parents are. Think of the people who sow into you even when youaren’tthe best to be around. If you can’t think of anyone, ask God. He put them there, and for a reason. You’re being raised up by somebody, and they’re honored to do it.

If another person asks me

why my relationship status on facebook hasn’t changed, so help me…

For the record…

I haven’t been on in a while. But, upon being on here, all I want to do is complain.
But I’d rather focus on whatdoesn’t suck.

What did you learn tonight?

You’re shouting so loud,
you barely enjoy this broken thing.
Well, you’re a voice that never sings,
that’s what I say.

Oh home, yes we go home,
home is wherever I’m with you.

When I have kids,

I don’t want the first thing they say about me to others to be “He hates small businesses.” (which I don’t)
I operate out of love, almost all of the time. I love a lot of things. A thing they believe I hate shouldn’t be the identifier.
That makes sense. To me, at least.
Would you identify your father by what he hates, before saying anything else as a qualifier?

So why is it that people would go on a street corner with a sign saying “God hates _______”??
Of all of the many messages you could send about God, why choose one that will only push people away from Him?

All the nights you spent sitting nowhere out there on your own
All the nights I waited by the phone when you were going in alone
And all your different faces and all your different ways are making everything a mess
And all I’m saying is that all your different places and all the complications led to this

Whoa.

I have a best friend.

Wait a second…

Those last three things you just said to me…
I said that exact thing to Danny, four months ago.
Weird, I’m looked up to.

This really got me thinking

about the titles we all hold. Over the course of our lives, we take on and shed so many titles. They aren’t all good, but they aren’t all bad, some aren’t even either, because they’re just a part of what we do or who we are. But they’re all different, and they all mark us up to be who we are.
Take me, for example.

I stand, as someone who needed help getting there.
I stand, as a warrior of God.
I stand, as a boy and as a man.
I stand, with best friends and a family.
I stand, as a leader, a manager, a follower, and an intern.

We all have titles that describe who we are and how far we’ve come.
Some of them we earn, some of them are given to us, and some of them we’ve had the whole time. They’re what people will know and remember you as, they’ll form the picture of a legacy. What titles do you have? And what do you want them to be?
